Phil Greiff

U13 A1

My name is Philip Greiff. I am 42 years old. I am married to my loving and supporting wife, Kelly. I have 3 kids, Severin (13), Soren (12), and Phalen (10). We reside in Langley.

This will be my 17th season coaching. I have coached both at the U13 A1 and U15 A1 levels, but the majority of my time has been at the U13 A1 level. I am a designated Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC) with the Coaching Association of Canada. I am a certified High Performance 1 coach with BC Hockey. I am also certified at U12 and U14 for USA Hockey. I hold a certificate for coaching with the American Coaching Academy Association. I was fortunate of being awarded the “Ernie Gare” Award for BC Hockey Coach of the Year in 2015. I was fortunate enough to have played in Germany for 3 seasons.

I am extremely excited about this upcoming season with the Cloverdale Colts U13 A1 team, and look forward to mentoring and helping out anyone who needs some assistance or insight as I was fortunate enough to have been mentored by a very experienced coach when I first started coaching.

AJ Mak

U13 A2

This will be AJ’s first year with Cloverdale MHA. He has 7 years experience of coaching minor hockey at the U13, U15, U18, grassroots and intro levels. Previously and most recently he coached in Richmond and in Hong Kong.

AJ is a student of the game. Is a firm believer that hockey IQ can be gained by becoming a student of the game as well. Outside of hockey, AJ is currently a proud serving member of our Canadian Armed Forces. Therefore he expects his players to be attention to details with discipline, more importantly to be accountable to one another, contribute and complement with one another selflessly so that it forms a cohesive team with spirit and determination.

AJ is excited to get to started with a proud and successful minor hockey association and to get to know the kids that he will help them unconditionally succeed on and off the ice.

Bayne Ryshak

U15 A1

Last season Bayne coached our U15 A1 team to the PCAHA final four, as well as the BC Hockey U15 Tier 1 Championship gold medal game, which they won!

I am from Maple Ridge, where for 9 seasons I was apart of the coaching staff of the Ridge Meadows Flames of the PJHL. For the final 5 seasons I was head coach, where we were fortunate to experience many team and individual successes (PJHL Coach of the year in 17/18), as well as helping many athletes move on to higher levels of hockey.

On top of this I was also a head coach in RMMHA at the U11A (coach of the year in 15/16) & U15A levels, as well as a head instructor for the RPM Hockey Company.

This is my second season Coaching in Cloverdale at the U15 A1 level. I am excited to coach in a highly respected association. I am looking forward to helping our Cloverdale athletes achieve their hockey goals and to being a positive influence on their lives.

Darrell Miller

U15 A2

We are excited to welcome back Darrell for his 2nd season at U15 A2!

My 20 years of coaching has been at various levels of Hockey, from H1 to Jr B.

Prior to my time in Cloverdale I coached independently in North Delta at a variety of different levels as well as an Assistant coach for the JR B Richmond Sockeyes.

The past 13 years have been spent coaching Initiation, C and Rep level hockey in Cloverdale as my son played in CMHA.

While coaching in Cloverdale I have been honoured to receive Initiation Coach of the year twice, as well as the Mike Bose Achievement in Coaching Award.

I am excited for the opportunity to help the young athletes learn, grow, develop and achieve their goals. I look forward to the year ahead and being a positive influence in their lives.

U18A1-2

Brien Gemmell

U18 A1

Last season Brien coached our U18 A1 team to the PCAHA final four, as well as the Bronze medal game of the BC Hockey U18 Tier 1 Championships, where they finished 4th.

I have been coaching hockey for over 30 years.  I have head coached or assisted at a variety of levels from minor hockey all the way up the Junior A Hockey.

I have been the Head Coach of the U18 A1 program for the past 4 years now.  Previous to that I coached the U15 A1 team.

I am a believer in developing strong individual skills and strong team tactic play. Beyond that, it is important to me as a coach to teach accountability, integrity and a strong work ethic - one that seeks excellence for the team and the individuals that play this game.

I am greatly looking forward to this coming season.

Jon Silcox

U18 A2

We are excited to welcome back Jon to his 2nd season at U18 A2!

He has coached Ice hockey for over 10 years, previously he coached minor hockey in Coquitlam, Ridge Meadows, Langley, and North Delta, and is currently assisting with the Grandview Steelers.

Jon brings passion and energy to each and every ice time while coaching and always has an expectation to be the hardest working team on the ice, win or lose. Jon expects his players to be in top physical and mental condition, while playing the game with drive and discipline. Jon focuses his practices around high tempo and work ethic, and pushes to get the highest level of compete and battle out of his players. Jon will expect his team to be one of the lowest penalized teams in U18 hockey as he continues to drive the message that discipline and special teams win hockey games.

Jon is excited to work with the athletes to drive success in school, life and hockey. Jon is also a former BCHL official and currently still works minor hockey games with BC hockey. Jon along with his coaching staff are very excited to work with these athletes and push them onto the next level.
